Schweikart is the best! March 30, 2010 Patricia Huber (Annapolis, MD) 7 out of 12 found this review helpful
Schweikart is an excellent writer and he lifts the heart. His dedication "To those honest and ethical scholars everywhere..." is the essence of this book. He uses original sources.
I can't believe that I am reading HISTORY made interesting! Schweikart is a new addition to my favorite author list and I am in the middle of his "Patriot's History of the U.S." Highly recommend both "Liberal Lies" and "Patriot's History".
Right wing trash March 25, 2010 Bruce R. Bartlett (Hermosa Beach, CA) 7 out of 54 found this review helpful
This book is the Right Wing preaching to the choir. Forget about truth or objectivity. To label these crack pot mythes and "Liberal" is shameful and un-Amaerican.
Knowledge is power March 20, 2010 David R. Nero (Dover, PA USA) 7 out of 10 found this review helpful
Facts always speak louder than spin. News and history should always be presented as facts, not by second or third hand emotion and opinion. This book is great on presenting the facts as they are, and were.
So-So Book is Heavy on Hyperbole March 18, 2010 RivulentDotCom (Washington State) 12 out of 21 found this review helpful
I bought this book because the abject failure of the United States public education system (as evidenced by our progressive slide further and further toward mediocrity when compared with the rest of the world) is incredibly concerning to me. It is no secret that liberals generally dominate most school systems. Therefore, it stood to reason to check out a book like this which purports to expose "lies" told by liberals
The book probably deserves 2.5 stars instead of 3. I gave it three because there were actually a few interesting examples of "lies" that I grew up hearing from people who were probably liberals.
For many of the items mentioned in this book, it probably isn't fair to call them "lies" so much as "perspectives". The book also includes omissions from historical teachings to be "lies". Therefore, the premise of the book is generally classified as hyperbole.
A majority of the "lies" mentioned in this book weren't even mainstream, at least not today. I certainly never "learned" most of them, but then again, I'm relatively young (under 30).
I'm guessing if you're old enough to remember Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan then this book will be more interesting than if you're young.
