Awesome book! May 24, 2010 Jessica Price (TX) I don't have much free time, so I'm very picky about how I spend it, which includes the books that I read. I'm very glad I took the time to read this one as it was thoroughly interesting and loaded with useful information. I even made notes on things like how to survive a plane crash and the 4 attributes of a lucky person.
Stats and stories May 21, 2010 Charles D. Rogers (RGV, TEXAS USA) The stats will help you see reality and wash away all the holywood nonsence you asume to be true.
The stories will show you that if they can survive through all that with no skills then so can I.
Great Book May 18, 2010 B. Thomas (Springfield, MO USA) This is a great book with a lot of insight on the human character. As you read, you see yourself and your friend's behavior and who might make it and who probably wouldn't in bad situations. I loved the book.
I Will Survive! May 7, 2010 Julia A. Andrews (Peoria, Illinois) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was an interesting and thought provoking book. Filled with true, incredible accounts from actual survivors of everything from a knitting needle accident that punctured a woman's chest to WWII Concentration Camp stories. I could not put this book down. I read parts aloud to my husband. Although other reviews called it 'verbose' I saw it as packed with factual tidbits that I found thoroughly interesting. Granted, the author re-enforces the obvious (Faith DOES have a positive impact on our lives)to the not so obvious (aviation safety tips that will definitely influence my next plane flight. I once was in a plane that quickly filled with smoke and had to deplane). I think PREPAREDNESS and AWARENESS of your surroundings was the key, not a survivalist philosophy but staying in tune with the immediate physicial envirnoment around us at all times. It was simply a fascinating read. Highly recommend it to others.
Enjoy the read!
Great Writer May 7, 2010 James Wagner (Florida, USA) A MUST READ
Ben Sherwood has a knack of combining teaching with actual events to illustrate a point then giving suggestions for a "survivor-want-to-be" to implement a survivor plan. The fastest non-fiction read I've ever experienced. His on-line questionnaire instrument at the end helped me understand what kind of survivor I am (There are many kinds of survivors.) It's difficult when one thinks about a "flight or fight" situation to determine what one is going to do or how they will act. The instrument told me specifically what I subconsciously thought I knew, but wasn't sure. Great pace.
