absolutely wonderful! July 25, 2010 minimara "The Help" was a great book! I loved it so much I read it much faster than I usually do - I couldn't put it down. I think this is a fabulous book that every one (especially women) should read!

I am loving this story! The authors first book is wonderful! So reminiscent of the 60's and the dialog is perfect. As i would imagine black maids would speak then. Times certainly have changed or have they? I never have lived in" the south" so maybe not.
Very good...but not perfect July 24, 2010 Courtenay Mercer Very good historical fiction book centered around three women (two black maids and one privileged white woman) in civil rights era Mississippi. It was suspenseful, which kept me reading, but I never felt a true connection to the characters. The book is written in rotating first person among the 3 lead characters, except one omniscient chapter about three-quarters of the way in (really annoying, to me at least). I thought the end was a little flat too. Still, I give it 4 stars because it kept me wanting more.
Stunning July 24, 2010 A wonderful read that will leave you sad to see it end and whose characters will stay with you long after you have finished the book.
Totally inaccurate depiction of my time. July 24, 2010 peanut 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I found this book unbelieveable, I was born and raised in Alabama and never heard of "seperate toilet's" built for the help. I found it totally fictional. Waste of money. My daily playmates were colored children and no one in my family or anyone I knew ever treated any of them like this.
If you like to poke fun at illiterate white trash and poor black's then you probably will like it. I don't and I didn't.
