Dominion sentinel Kaela Garrett is determined to obtain the rank of Lieutenant Commander and if she can pull off this mission then it's guaranteed to be hers. She just hadn't expected her mission to go so drastically wrong before it'd even truly started.
Lorcan Hunt, a treasure salvager, has a score to settle with Kaela. Six weeks ago she had him arrested and he's still deeply resentful of that fact. Discovering that she's being auctioned off as a slave is too tempting to pass up - it will be his pleasure to have her at his mercy.
Kaela's horrified when she recognizes Lorcan at the auction where she's posing as a slave with the hopes of being purchased by a specific man in order to gain access to an exclusive gala. Lorcan's unexpected appearance and determination to win her at any cost puts her mission and promotion in jeopardy - and she's not pleased with the situation at all. Lorcan's smug superior attitude rubs Kaela the wrong way and to make matters worse there's a sexual attraction between them that's becoming impossible to deny. Lorcan's aware that he stepped into the middle of some sort of `investigation' but no way is he ready to give up his revenge - or have the sentinel at his beck and call. He's got plans for her and nothing will convince him to release her or bargain with the Dominion for her return.
Lorcan may have purchased Kaela as an act of vengeance but his desire for her is quickly overcoming any grievances he has against her. What infuriates him is that she won't tell him exactly why she was on the auction block to start with or what the mission he messed up entails. As the tension between them reaches the boiling point it becomes apparent that something has to give and with chemistry this strong ... well it's only natural that they give in to their lusts. The only problem with them being together is their lives are worlds apart and Lorcan's afraid his growing affection for her is going to lead to heartache.
Sydney Somers' ENSLAVED is action packed and humorous right from the beginning. Kaela's headstrong and fearless nature provides the perfect antithesis to Lorcan's seemingly easygoing lifestyle. There's more to either of these characters than meets the eyes and I enjoyed getting to know them as the various aspects of their personalities are revealed. Kaela and Lorcan's struggles for supremacy and their squabbles help make this story fun. Ms Somers encompasses everything that draws me to futuristic storylines in one truly enjoyable read. ENSLAVED had me gasping, giggling, and eagerly awaiting each confrontation between Kaela and Lorcan just to find out who would win in their battle of wills.
