Product Description The revolutionary Amazon Kindle is getting rave reviews, but most Kindle users feel that a far better manual is needed in order to get the most out of this extraordinary device. Introducing Decoding the Kindle: A Comprehensive Guide to Getting the Most Out of Your Kindle. Meticulously researched and painstakingly written to be the one Kindle resource you can't live without, Decoding the Kindle was written by Jim Cheshire, a passionate Kindle owner. It is a thorough guide covering all aspects of the Kindle. Unlike many of the other Kindle resources available, Decoding the Kindle is not a brief article on the Kindle. It's a comprehensive e-book designed to teach you everything you need to know about the Amazon Kindle. Decoding the Kindle was written for all Kindle users, even those who have absolutely no technical expertise and are inexperienced in using a computer. Here are just a few of the many things you'll learn in this book: - Tips and tricks to help make your basic Kindle reading experience more enjoyable. - Details on where you can locate free books as well as tips on how you can search for hard-to-find free books. - How you can use free software to convert books and edit author name, title, and other information. - How you can use your own pictures for the Kindle screensaver, including details on what format of image you should use, how to convert your images, and links to free software you can use for image manipulation for the Mac and the PC. - The best ways to take advantage of the Kindle's built-in Web browser, including how to use email, blog readers, eBay, social networking, and even manage your Netflix movie queue. - How to listen to music while you read. - How to listen to podcasts on your Kindle (and how to make the Kindle automatically remember your current place in your favorite podcast.)

Great Way to Discover More after you play a few days January 4, 2010 Barbara S. Unkle (Oceanport, NJ United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The free User's Guide is good, but after a few days you want to know more. This is where Mr. Cheshire shines. I learned much more about how to use the free whispernet for very handy things (including checking flights before I leave for the airport or while enroute vs. just reading it on the plane). I was comfortably converting documents to my Kindle after reading Mr. Cheshire's excellent treatment of that feature too. I even found and learned to use exotic features such as changing an error in an author's name. In short, we invested a lot in a powerful machine...this book is a small investment in learning to unlock its potential. Thumbs way up.
Not for the Kindle 2 August 31, 2009 RichardW (New York, NY) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I started reading the preview.
It seems OK. But, it only covers the Kindle 1 and does not cover the Kindle 2.
Wait for an update if you have the Kindle 2.
Very Professional - Excellent Reference October 14, 2008 Mike Donovan (Middle America) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I purchased another similar ebook that I thought would give me a few more tips beyond the User Manual. It did not. I was hesitant about this one, but had the sample sent to my Kindle. I'm glad I did!
Jim Cheshire has written what amounts to the "unofficial" official guide to the Kindle with "Decoding The Kindle." I learned some tips and tricks that have proved invaluable. I highly recommend Cheshire's professional and helpful ebook - it's well worth the money.
Skip the Kindle Manual and Read This Instead! October 6, 2008 Jay B. Siegel (Round Rock, TX) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book covers everything in the Kindle manual and a whole lot more. It goes into things in much more detail and the illustrations are very helpful. I thought I really knew my Kindle but this book has really helped me to go beyond what I had been using my Kindle for. The author's writing style is easy to read and you can tell he's an enthusiastic Kindle user too. Definitely worth the low cost if you want to get the most out of your Kindle investment.
A clear, concise guide to the Kindle October 2, 2008 Books-n-Cats (Valley of the Prunes, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Jim Cheshire's Decoding the Kindle is a clearly written and accessible guide to navigating all the features of the Amazon Kindle.
His instructions are easy to understand, even for those who are not "techies". The material is well-organized and the Kindle format can be searched, so finding the answer to a specific question is a snap.
I will keep it on my Kindle to refer to again and again.
My only suggestion (being the bargain-hunter I am) would be to include more resources for no-cost, public domain content. However, such resources are available on the Internet if you look.
All in all, Decoding the Kindle is well worth the purchase.
